EDUCATION

Graduated as MD (1992) and trained as Radiation Oncologist in the University Hospital of Leuven (1997). Accredited as Physician Expert Health Data Management in 2003.

FUNCTION

General Director of the Belgian Cancer Registry since 2005 (Director Research) and Former Coordinator of the Flemish Cancer Registry Network (1998-2004)

SPECIFIC INTERESTS

Different aspects of good practices in a cancer registry (data collection, data quality, data protection and privacy aspects, linkage with administrative data bases). Descriptive epidemiology.

National and international research interest: Evaluation of quality of care in a population-based environment with a focus on the impact of tumour stage. Involvement in International programs to stimulate the use of the TNM classification as prognostic factor in cancer registries.
