Roberto Zanetti

Bio:

Graduated in medicine at Torino University; PhD in Biostatistics at Milano University.
Junior Epidemiologists and then Director at the Piedmont Cancer Registry (1978 – 2018).
Has assured, in various positions, the coordination of networks for measuring the impact of cancer (incidence, survival, prevalence and mortality) both at national level (establishing the Italian Network, the AIRTUM in 1997, with Eva Buiatti) and international level, directing the GRELL Group (1985 – 2003) and serving at the BoD of the IACR, International Association of Cancer Registries (Europe representative, 2001-2005; President 2011 – 2016).
Editor of the Italian quinquennial report Cancer in Italy (3 editions: 1991, 1999, 2001) and the booklet Facts and Figures of Cancer in Italy (2 editions, 1998, 2002).
Editor of the Volume XI of The WHO – IARC – IACR compendium Cancer Incidence in Five Continents. Editor of the Italian version of the UICC-TNM staging manual. Author of chapters in various manuals for cancer registrars.
Other main research interest include analytical studies on the etiology of Melanoma, Breast cancer, Lymphomas, Kaposi sarcoma, Pleural moeshotelioma; on the evaluation of Breast, Cervical and Colorectal screening programs; on the analysis of cost and performance in cancer registration.
Active in global cooperation in cancer control: BoD member of the UICC, Union for international Cancer Control (2006-2009); Founder of the Fondo Elena Moroni for Oncology. Adviser of Swiss, French and Italian Health Ministers on matters of cancer control.
Visiting Professor at Geneva University, Institut de Medicine Sociale et Préventive (2004-2005)
Expert in court in trials with carcinogenicity implications (Italian Courts of Torino, Bologna, Venezia)
Scholar of the Crabtree Foundation, UCL London, Italian Chapter.
